America’s Music School Opens First Texas Location in Houston
Bach to Rock (B2R), America’s music school for students of all ages, announced today that its first Texas location has opened in Houston. To celebrate B2R’s grand opening, the school will host an open house on Saturday, April 23 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. at 9079 Katy Freeway, Suite A, Houston, TX 77024. The community is invited to tour the school, schedule a free music lesson, learn about individual lessons and group classes, try out free toddler “Mommy and Me” classes, enter into prize drawings and giveaways, check out the recording studio, meet the teachers, and more.
“Bach to Rock is expanding at a robust and steady pace. I am confident the Memorial school will become a foothold in the Southwest as we continue to grow our presence nationwide,” said Brian Gross, president of Bach to Rock. “Thanks to our dedicated new franchisees, Alex and Lynley Stern, of Ruby Capital, LLC, families in the Memorial area will enjoy our fun, progressive music curriculum that has proven to be successful with thousands of students of all ages.”
Bach to Rock Memorial will offer a variety of programs for both children and adults, including individual lessons, group classes such as Rock Band, early childhood programs for children as young as six months old, summer camps and birthday parties. Studies have shown that learning to play music in a group helps students learn teamwork, develop social skills and build self-esteem, among other benefits. The school will also feature Bach to Rock’s new Touch Screen Tablet Technology, which allows teachers to customize lessons; gives parents the ability to view their children’s progress and homework; and provides administrators with the necessary tools to ensure students are receiving a well-balanced music education.
“Opening the first Bach to Rock school in Texas is an honor and a thrill,” said Alex Stern, Bach to Rock franchisee. “My wife Lynley and I are both natives of the Houston area and the music lesson industry is underdeveloped here. Bach to Rock offers a fresh, interactive approach that is entirely student-driven, which is something we wished we had when we were growing up. It is designed to nurture and grow each student’s distinct musical interests. We are hoping to revolutionize the music lesson business in Texas!” Music lovers from an early age, Alex has always enjoyed mixing CD’s and singing in school plays, and Lynley has been a pianist since age six. The duo plans to leverage their past experience in the education and internet marketing industries to the new venture. They plan to open a second Bach to Rock in Texas in the next year.
Bach to Rock has repeatedly been named to Entrepreneur’s Franchise 500 and was listed in the Top Ten Trending Categories for 2016. Most recently, Bach to Rock won “Best of” Bethesda Magazine 2016 with first place in the Best Kids' Art or Music Classes category as the readers' pick. In 2014, Inc. Magazine named Bach to Rock one of the fastest-growing private companies in America for the third consecutive year. Franchise Times
has ranked it as one of the 500 Powerhouse Brands and on its Next 300 Franchise System list. In addition, Washington Family Magazine named Bach to Rock to its “Best Music Instruction” list and readers of Northern Virginia Magazine voted the company as “Best Piano Instruction.” Bach to Rock also was named the number one company to watch by the Washington Business Journal.
Bach to Rock is currently seeking qualified candidates to open franchise locations in major metropolitan markets throughout the country. Bach to Rock is an opportunity for entrepreneurs to build a business that is dedicated to helping children and adults learn to play the music they love. While music experience or ability is not necessary, candidates should bring strong business acumen and the ability to build teams to ensure the school’s success.

First Houston Bach to Rock Franchise Featured in Houston Chronicle
The Houston Chronicle recently highlighted the new Bach to Rock franchise opening soon in the Memorial area of Houston, Texas. The new site, which will be located at 9075 Katy Freeway, Suite A, is currently under construction and is tentatively slated to open by February 2016. The new location will be the first in the Houston area, and joins 11 other Bach to Rock music schools currently open in the U.S.
Franchise owners Alex and Lynley Stern have obtained rights for two separate Bach to Rock locations and are currently scouting out potential spots for the second location. Both Bach to Rock franchises will offer music instruction programs for children and adults, including individual lessons, group classes and summer camps.
“We both grew up in Houston, so we are pretty familiar with Houston proper,” Alex says. “We are thinking about the West University/Bellaire area or maybe Sugar Land or The Woodlands. The thing about Houston is there are so many great areas.”
Alex grew up in Bellaire and attended Bellaire High School. His wife, Lynley, grew up in the Memorial area and attended Memorial High School. Both attended the University of Texas. Alex Stern has an Internet marketing background; Lynley Stern is a school teacher. Their educations, career backgrounds and love of music have helped prepare them both for the responsibilities that being a Bach to Rock franchise owner will bring.
“We both love working with kids,” Alex says. “We are both from big families with a lot of nieces and nephews. Bach to Rock is a concept that really hit home for us because we are both passionate about music, and we wanted to find a business where we could work with kids. We excel in that environment.”
The Bach to Rock music school franchise continues to grow at impressive speed. The franchise is often named to Entrepreneur magazine’s Franchise 500 list and, in 2014, was named one of the fastest-growing private companies in America for the third year in a row by Inc. Magazine. The franchise is also ranked as one of Franchise Times magazine’s 500 Powerhouse Brands, and is on its Next 300 Franchise System list.
The new Memorial location is among five franchise schools the company currently has in development, four of which are opening this winter. An additional 30 schools sold nationwide.
“Our success would not be possible without our dedicated franchisees and site directors who are focused on bringing music and arts programs into cities across the country,” says Bach to Rock President Brian Gross. “We look forward to offering our fun, progressive curriculum to families in these new markets.”
Alex says the music lessons industry is underdeveloped in Houston, and that the new Bach to Rock location will offer a modern solution to fill that void.
“Music lessons are traditionally more of an old-school market where you go to the back of a guitar center or to one-on-one lessons in homes,” he says. “It isn’t interactive. It’s not fun and modern. Most kids burn out quickly when they have to learn technical stuff. With Bach to Rock, students point the direction of where we go. If they want to learn Taylor Swift, we learn Taylor Swift and do all sorts of fun things.”
The music school also gets students into mini-bands of three or four people with an instructor to collaborate and build confidence, and is where Adam says the “real magic happens.”
“Each student is on a different instrument. They get to create their band name, and it’s very cool interaction that gives these kids a real taste of music. They are not just stuck in a backroom somewhere by themselves,” he says.
Bach to Rock Signs First Franchise Agreement in Houston
Bach to Rock (B2R), America's music school for students of all ages, announced today it signed a multi-unit franchise agreement with new franchise group, Ruby Capital, LLC, to develop two schools in Texas. The group is targeting locations in Houston and has long-term goals at expanding their presence into the Dallas and Austin areas. Their first school is planned to open in Spring 2016.
"We are thrilled to expand Bach to Rock's presence to the Southwest and we're confident the Houston area, known as one of the largest expanding cities in the region, will love and benefit from our variety of music programs," said Brian Gross, president of Bach to Rock. "With music and arts programs continuing to be cut due to diminishing school budgets, Bach to Rock helps meet the increased need for high-quality music education. We look forward to offering our fun, progressive curriculum to Houston families."
Husband and wife duo, Alex and Lynley Stern, owners of Ruby Capital, LLC, become first-time franchise owners with this latest announcement. After month's of searching, they stumbled across Bach to Rock and determined it was a business model that was missing in the Houston market. Music lovers from an early age, Alex has always enjoyed mixing CD's and singing in school plays, and Lynley has been a pianist since age six. The couple is excited to become part of the Bach to Rock family and plans to leverage their past experience in the education and Internet marketing industries to bring high quality music education to neighboring communities.
"We cannot wait to start sharing the gift of music with Houstonians and their families. As music lovers from an early age, we understand the value and benefit that music education can bring to young children as they develop," said Alex Stern, Bach to Rock franchisee. "We are excited to join the brand and believe that Bach to Rock provides a positive social setting and the opportunity to learn music while having fun at the same time."
Bach to Rock franchisees are provided with an array of tools to position them for success including extensive hands-on training, marketing and public relations support and a proprietary web-based management system, among other tools. Franchisees also benefit from multiple revenue streams such as individual and group classes, early childhood education programs, state-of-the-art recording studios, summer and winter camps, birthday parties and more.

Wayne, NJ Welcomes Newest Bach to Rock Music School
Bach to Rock (B2R), America’s music school for students of all ages, proudly announces the opening of a new school in Wayne, New Jersey. Bach to Rock is expanding throughout the country helping music lovers become musicians. Now, families in Wayne are invited to learn about Bach to Rock at the school’s free grand opening on Saturday, June 1, 2019 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. at 1595-3 NJ 23, Wayne, New Jersey, 07470. Attendees can tour the school, enjoy a free music lesson, learn about individual lessons and group classes, try out free toddler “Mommy and Me” classes, enter prize drawings and giveaways, check out the recording studio, and enjoy performances by instructors. This location marks Bach to Rock’s second school in New Jersey and its 39th in the country.
Nationwide, Bach to Rock has instructed over 45,000 aspiring musicians since opening its first school in 2007. The brand delivers a twist on traditional music lessons, offering something that’s akin to team sports with a spirit of creativity and fun to inspire students. “With Bach to Rock, gone are the days of boring and solitary music lessons. Students learn to play today’s hits and jam with other kids from the start. You’ll see students paired up in groups and teams to help ignite the musical energy,” said President of Bach to Rock, Brian Gross. The Wayne school will serve students from Wayne, Pequannock Township, Lincoln Park, Haledon, Pompton Lakes, and Totowa.
Karl Kahofer is the new franchise owner of the Wayne school, and he brings over 20 years of sales and management experience in the healthcare industry to the venture. The father of two daughters, he recently relocated his family to Bergen County. He noticed plenty of sports opportunities but didn’t see a lot of choices for kids with interests other than sports. “I feel it is important that families have a welcoming, family-focused music school option as well,” said Kahofer. “Additionally, there is a lack of fun music education in our school system. My love of music and the importance of boosting the cultural development of today’s children led me to Bach to Rock.”
Bach to Rock Wayne will offer a variety of programs for students of all ages including individual and group lessons in piano, voice, guitar, drum and more; music programs for preschoolers and toddlers; beginning piano for children in grades K-2; along with summer camps and birthday parties. Bach to Rock also offers MyB2R, an online dashboard offering customers real-time access to student progress and more. MyB2R is the only digital service of its kind in the music school industry, and provides the ability to track student advancement, schedule lessons, obtain homework and stream over 300 pre-recorded songs to practice at home.
Changing the Way Students Learn Music
Bach to Rock is reshaping music education on a national scale by turning solitary, boring music lessons into a group activity that is more like a team sport. B2R focuses on providing a well-balanced music education because, ultimately, that is what parents are looking for. Unlike other music school franchises, Bach to Rock has an extensive curriculum. Students learn the intricacies of music — from theory to how to read music. Bach to Rock is the music school kids would have designed for themselves. They get to jam with other kids right away and play current hits. The learning is the same, but the enjoyment factor is much higher.

“The students, who range in age from 7 to 18, and their band coaches worked tirelessly for months to prepare for this tremendous event and I’m beyond proud of all the performers,” said Bach to Rock Port Washington Director Elana Hayden. “While this is a competition, the main point is for the kids to have a great experience, to get to perform in a top New York City venue – and to have fun and feel like a rock star!”
Six seasoned music industry professionals, Carolee Goodgold (Carly Simon), John Miller (Michael Jackson, Eric Clapton), Brandon “Taz” Niederauer (Lady Gaga, Dr. John), Cameron Rasmussen (Disney’s Aladdin on Broadway), Jason Reese (Sal “The Voice” Valentinetti) and Wayne Schuster (Blood, Sweat, and Tears) judged the performances.

The bands were scored on several criteria including musical ability, technical ability, stage presence, material, creativity, and professionalism.
